Mission:
Memories Among The Stars
Location: Various
Timeline: 2387; Before Mojave
The medical complex in a nearby city on Betazed contacted Rey Freight, Inc. to transport special medications to Star Base Sierra. The medications in of themselves were really nothing special unless the cargo was hijacked then synthesized into a highly addictive street drug known only as ‘Fascination’.
Rinard Rey gathered his four most trusted and experienced employees to form the crew but he still needed someone he could trust implicitly to pilot the freighter Calypso; his best and fastest freighter. Knowing Yersin was due to come home during her academy break, being in her last year, he would rely on her piloting skills and her dedication; her trustworthiness of course wasn’t in question.
After explaining the situation and what was at stake Rinard asked “So are you up for the challenge getting the medications to their destination. Also I’ve gathered my best and most trusted people for your crew.”
“Always father and I’m sure the crew you’ve provided me with will be a big help” Yesrin replied before inquiring “So when do we leave.”
“First thing in the morning at zero eight hundred. If all goes well you should be back here in two days time. I would suggest you get some rest tonight; you have a big challenge ahead of you” he father suggested.
The next morning came quickly with Yesrin rising at zero six hundred. After dressing, and grabbing a couple of knives along with her phaser for protection, she ate a light breakfast tying to fight back the nerves knowing full well what was at stake.
Arriving at the Calypso, just before zero eight hundred, she boarded seeing her crew ready and waiting “Good morning Crew” then pausing “And who’s who here” she inquired wanting to know who did what.
A guy who appeared to be in his early forties made the introductions “I’m Josh your first mate” then pointing around the bridge “That young lady is Sarah and she handles the sensor screens. Next is Hank he takes care of the engines and that big ugly guy is Sam he helps with the engines and takes care of the cargo area” he concluded.
With a smile “Nice to meet you all and hopefully this will be an easy run. I’m going to do a preflight then we’ll get underway so please go to your stations” Yesrin ordered then sat in the pilots seat and began her preflight.
Josh walked over and asked in sort of a teasing fashion “So do I call you Captain” as he snickered thinking he was probably twice her age “Also once we get underway I’ll be keeping a close eye on everything so you can concentrate on flying this thing.”
Looking up “Nah, Yesrin is just fine” as she grinned “That would be helpful” then looking over to Sarah “Keep a close watch of your sensor screens; I don’t want any surprises” as Sarah gave her a thumbs up.
After the preflight was complete Yesrin opened the comms “Flight this is Freighter Calypso requesting departure vector.” Being the owner’s daughter she knew the protocols her father had in place.
“Calypso departure on vector six seven point nine, you’re cleared for liftoff” Flight replied.
“Understood Flight….lifting off the deck now” as the freighter started rising into the air. Keying in the vector Yesrin headed for open space at one half impulse. Minutes later she broke through the troposphere and into the darkness of space.
Plotting in the coordinates for Star Base Sierra, Yesrin went to warp four then sat back and relaxed a little settling in for the long journey ahead.
“Say that was a pretty smooth departure; nice piloting” Sarah commented with a smile being quite impressed with this young woman’s skills “So you want to go by Yesrin and not Captain?”
“Thanks and please it’s just Yesrin; I’m not old enough to be called Captain” she replied with a chuckle.
A couple hours later Sarah noticed something on her screens of concern thinking she should let the pilot know considering their cargo “Yesrin I think we may have someone following us.”
Not what Yesrin wanted to hear “Any idea who it might be” she inquired with some concern.
“Not sure but I would bet credits on the fact it’s either pirates or marauders looking for a quick score” Sarah replied still watching her screens.
There’s one way to find out…..I’m going to make a course adjustment….let me know if they follow suit” Yesrin stated as she made the adjustment.
“Yes they matched our course change exactly” Sarah replied wondering how things were go to shake out.
Thinking for a few moments “Scan the area….look to see if there is an astroid belt or cluster nearby” she ordered.
Moments later “There’s a good sized cluster of asteroids about a half a light year away on our present heading” Sarah stated.
“Good” tapping the comms system “Engine room we have a potential problem and I have to increase our speed to warp four point five for about thirty minutes…..let me know if any issues develop” Yesrin stated.
“Will do boss” Hank replied wondering what was going on.
Several minutes later Yesrin could see the asteroid cluster in her view screen and it looked massive. As they approached she dropped out of warp “Where’s our tail at the moment” she inquired as the freighter slowed down.
Checking her screens “They’ll be right on us soon” Sarah replied “Why are you slowing us down.”
“Because we’re going to fly into those asteroids and see if they follow us” Yesrin replied before opening comms “Hang onto something people this may get a little bumpy for the next few minutes.”
Josh came flying up to the cockpit “What the hell’s going on” he inquired.
“We seem to have picked up a tail and we can’t outrun them. By using the asteroids for cover I hope to outsmart them while giving them something else to contend with” Yesrin explained.
“I hope you know what you’re doing otherwise I’d say you’ve lost you damn mind” he retorted wondering if he should take over control of the ship.
Dropping to full impulse Yesrin entered the asteroids dodging and weaving around the massive rocks making sure the freighter didn’t catch the brunt of it “Sarah where’s our tail now.”
Checking her screens “It appears they’re flying just outside of the asteroids” then she paused “I think they’re going and try to flank us as we exit” Sarah stated with some concern in her voice.
“Good! You see those three on our port side at the end of the cluster….lock phasers on those three and when I tell you blow them to pieces…..that should be distraction enough for us to make a clean getaway” Yesrin commented hoping this was going to work.
“Phasers locked on target, awaiting your order” Sarah answered now seeing what Yesrin was up to.
Minutes later “Fire!!” As the asteroids turned into space dust Yesrin banked hard to starboard and accelerated to warp four point five before readjusting her course for Star Base Sierra.
Josh grinned “That was a gutsy maneuver; so was that planned or just dumb luck” as he chuckled.
“Yes and yes” Yesrin replied with a grin.
“That was fricking awesome” Sarah added quite impressed with the whole process “And it looks like we lost our tail to boot.
“That was the whole idea” she replied with a chuckle.
A few hours later they arrived at Star Base Sierra “Traffic control this is the Freighter Calypso requesting docking space; we have medicines for the Base that needs to be unloaded” Yesrin stated happy to be here in one piece and with the cargo.
“Freighter Calypso unload at docking bay C-7; someone from Medical will meet you there” came the reply.
“Understood, thank you” as the comms were cut and she eased the ship into the specified location. Opening comms “Sam supervise the unloading as for the rest of you take an hour and stretch your legs on the base.”
Sarah secured her station then walked over to Yesrin “I was thinking of getting a coffee or a bite to eat if you’d care to join me” she inquired with a smile.
Rising from the pilot’s seat “Yes I could use a cup of coffee after what we’ve just been through” as Josh walked over “Josh, Sarah and I are going to get a coffee, you want anything.”
“No I’m good besides if I get hungry I’ll just hit the replicators. You two go ahead” he answered.

Exiting the Lift the two ladies looked for a coffee shop on the Promenade Deck of Star Base Sierra until they found what they were looking for. Entering they each grabbed a coffee and pastry then went and sat in the common area.
While sipping their coffee “I have to say you’re one heck of a pilot and so young” Sarah commented with a smile.
“Thanks. I let you in on a little secret…..I started flying when I was thirteen and by the time I hit sixteen I was already an accredited pilot, plus it helps when your father owns the company” as she chuckled.
“You certainly don’t act like a boss’s daughter” then she paused “You seem so….normal” Sarah replied with a grin.
But before Yesrin could make a comment two scruffy looking guys walked up to them “Say girls how would you like to party for awhile; we’ll make it worth your while” the one guy stated as he grinned with a few teeth missing.
“Thanks for the invitation but no thank you; we’re working” Yesrin replied with some disgust.
“Come on…it’ll be fun you’ll see” he replied with determination in his voice.
This conversation was going nowhere fast and Yesrin was tiring of these two creeps as she stood “Are you deaf! I said we weren’t interested; do yourself a favor and go about your business.”
Not wanting to take no for an answer he grabbed Yesrin by the arm but before he could say anything she broke free then grabbed his arm and forced it up behind his back and shoved him against the wall in a blink of an eye “I guess you don’t listen very well” she stated as Sarah just stood there not believing what she was seeing but realized Yesrin had things well in hand.
Adding a little more pressure to the guys arm forcing it up further behind his back “Ok…ok…I get the point….we’ll go.” Pushing him away from her, just in case he decided to do something really stupid, she looked at his partner “You want some of this?” Looking at Yesrin he didn’t say a word and grabbed his buddy and walked off briskly.
“You are just full of surprises” Sarah stated with a smirk “But I’m glad you are.”
“I hate guys like that….just because they’re big they think they can do whatever they want” she replied with a grin “I think we should get back to the ship; we should be able to get underway shortly.”
Walking back aboard the Calypso Yesrin asked Josh “The cargo unloaded yet.”
“Yes we’re empty and can leave anytime you want” he replied “So did you two have fun on the base.”
Sarah spoke up “Yesrin did” as she giggled recalling the look on those guy’s faces.
Looking over at Josh “Long story. Let’s get out of here and head for home” as Yesrin assumed her position in the pilot’s seat while the others went to their stations.
